Vintage Assemblage Journey is about old metal, worn wood, and found treasures—each fragment whispers a story. The Relic Keeper is an assemblage born from timeworn objects brought together on a vintage game board. Here, texture, history, and symbolism collide to create a vintage assemblage journey.

The rusted chain speaks of burden, the delicate rosary of prayer. A crucifix and a butterfly share the same plane, where weight meets grace, where the industrial rubs against the sacred. Each object becomes more than itself—once utilitarian or ornamental, now a vessel for memory.

You can see this vintage assemblage journey at night, under the glow of red LED light, as The Relic Keeper shifts again. The illumination doesn’t just brighten—it alters. Shadows stretch across the surface, and the glow magnifies each crucifix, feather, chain, and wing. Objects are no longer simply seen; they become presences, bound together in a single frame of firelight.

This work is also a reflection of my journey as an artist. On JourneyOnCanvas.com, I often return to the idea that art is less about a destination and more about a path—a continual uncovering of meaning, layer by layer, piece by piece. The Relic Keeper is one step along that path: an exploration of how memory becomes tangible, how the past is reimagined, and how found materials can lead us into sacred encounters. Each found object is an invitation to take a vintage assemblage journey.

Like all journeys, this one required letting go of certainty and leaning into discovery. The board became a map, the relics became guides, and the act of assembly became a way of keeping faith with the process. The journey is never finished, but each piece—like this one—marks a waypoint, a reminder that transformation is found not just in what we create, but in how the act of creating transforms us. Vintage assemblage journey reminds us that creativity can transform us as we remember and reflect on where we have been and where we might go next.

Tears for Dancing, Age 42

The older I get the less I think about what I can get out of this life. Bad things happen here on Earth and no one is immune. I see my parents suffering, I watch terrible things happen to my friends and I see catastrophic events that create hell on Earth. Revelation 21:4 promises that someday God will wipe every tear from our eyes and the old order of things will pass away. I’m beginning to think that this promise isn’t so far away: it’s just waiting for us at the next stop. Maybe when we die we trade our tears for dancing and enter Heaven. Until then, I'm going to paint, I'm going to write, and I'm going to share when I find hope in this life. That's why I'm here at Journey on Canvas.
