I’ve been looking back on my journey. I have so much I have saved. While sifting through old piles of my children’s artwork, I found myself pained at the idea of letting go of any of it. Pictures were taken and filed into folders on my phone by categories. Each creation was a treasure, but there was just too much to keep. I had been hoarding a bit, and the time had come to let some stuff go.

You can’t hold too tightly to the journey, I’ve decided. When it came to throwing away some of my kids’ creations, though, I became a bit paralyzed. The garbage just seemed like an unfit place for little wonders made through the years by my own kids. Then, it hit me! Collage papers! I can add all these treasures to my art. Now, my journey on canvas will hold little pieces of my journey and my children’s journey. I couldn’t be more excited to create my next piece!

If you need to let go of something you’ve been holding on to, how can you do it in a way that lets you move forward? Your journey doesn’t need to go out with the trash. Consider creative ways that you can archive your story. Make a video, take some photos, or start a creation that lets you capture something meaningful about you and the road you have traveled. Share what you discover and what you create. You can do it here, or you can find another way. What I do suggest is that you tell your story. The journey has more power when it’s shared.
