Believe what is true regardless of what seems to be. Don’t let that old tape, with all those old lies, play over and over again in your head. Replace that thing! I know how fear, negative words, wounds, broken heartedness, sickness, and disease can get that tape rolling inside me and you. That doesn’t mean we have to put up with that OLD JUNK! I’m gonna pull that Old Junk out of my head. I’m not going to give it a chance to play its old song of doubt, fear, and sadness. Instead, I’m going to believe something new, write a new song, and let that new tape play. Old tape out, new tape in! Sounds easy, doesn’t it? One problem: I can’t do it. I don’t stand a chance against that Old Junk. It has been around for a long time and has become awfully powerful. Spiritual journaling is one of the tools I use to clean up my Old Junk. My spiritual journal is a place where I can reflect on my thinking, my choices, and my experiences. I can take the time to listen to that tape playing in my head and see if it’s playing the right song. If I need a new tape of new ideas, attitudes, and beliefs, I can use my journal to write down my new song. I can put it all down in words, and my new song can start to work its way into my head. Old tape out, new tape in! A spiritual journal is a great tool, but I still need someone to help me pull out all that Old Junk. Who is able and willing to help me pull out the old and put in the new? Who is Master of my Old Junk? Even with the Old Junk still in me, I smile because I have The Answer. He makes it easy, He’s my God, and He’s not going to let that old tape keep on playing. He won’t let your old tape keep on playing either. We just need to ask God to help us fix our thinking, and expect to start believing something new. Grab a spiritual journal, and invite God to speak to you. Examine your thoughts, and explore the new ideas you and God discover. Write down the new plan: all the new thoughts, attitudes, and ideas for your mind. Share what you discover inside your journal, and share it here at Journey on Canvas Blog. Together, we can change our minds, and help others change their minds too.
I can paint to hear a new song. I can put it all down in words and images, and my new song can start to work its way into my head. Old tape out, new tape in! That’s what this painting is about.

Tears for Dancing, Age 42
The older I get the less I think about what I can get out of this life. Bad things happen here on Earth and no one is immune. I see my parents suffering, I watch terrible things happen to my friends and I see catastrophic events that create hell on Earth. Revelation 21:4 promises that someday God will wipe every tear from our eyes and the old order of things will pass away. I’m beginning to think that this promise isn’t so far away: it’s just waiting for us at the next stop. Maybe when we die we trade our tears for dancing and enter Heaven. Until then, I'm going to paint, I'm going to write, and I'm going to share when I find hope in this life. That's why I'm here at Journey on Canvas.
